I wonder if anyone could advise me on what tires to get for our XD. It's a '97 Disco. Will be used for regular city drive. No off-roading at all. We want a set that will look adequate for the sporty look on our XD. Hopefully long term service, 65K miles preferably. Conservative on the gas. We are in Los Angeles. I appreciate any recommendation!
Size wise, if it were mine I would up up a size to a 245/75/16 for better look, last longer and rides better.
Brand wise, that is your call.

Stick with Michelin. They give you the look, ride, and durability that you want. Over the years I have tried Toyos and others but every time I put Michelins back on I remember how good they are.
Sell the XD to someone that understands what an XD is, and what it was built for. Then buy an early (99.5-00) DII since you want an on-road mall crawler for a truck. It's an insult to the XD and to Land Rover as a whole to leave an XD on-road only. The DII rides nicer, is more comfortable, and better suited to your needs.

Sorry to upset you! I actually love my XD and believe it or not, it only has 28K miles!! --just so you get even more upset!!-- ;-))
You drive your truck in any manner you see fit ajkh - he's just jealous because he doesn't have one! He's probably jealous of my limited edition low mileage truck too!
BTW, I was going to suggest Michelins for your truck!

Yeah; having 1 of 350 Kalahari's; and only 1 of 150 in Borrego yellow; I'm really jealous of yours. Your White one is the boring stepchild of the Kalahari's. Now find one of the 1 of 50's in Bonatti grey, and we'll be talking. LMAO! And only 49K miles, and less than 20K on the 4.6 conversion.
But I am jealous of the XD. I bought the Kalahari because I couldn't find a good condition XD with low mileage, LOL. So sell it to me; I'll give you enough to cover your new DII.

I liked the Michelin LTX M/S. It looks a lot like the old stock XPC the the RR's used to come with (and maybe Discos). It is a great highway tire and does very well in rain and snow because the lugs are siped all the way to the bottom of the tread.
Most Land Cruisers come with them also.
I had the 225/75r16 before modifying my rig, great stocker tire. As you go wider they tend to follow the grooves in the road. Although I live with it using 315's!
I think the Disco 1s look best with more narrow tires as LR intended, when they are stock. you'll get better mileage with less rolling resistance too.

Wrong, there were only 150 Kalahari's made and none in Bonatti Grey. Borrego Yellow and Chawton White only

You must now SELL your DII because of your overall stupidity, ignorance and lack of knowledge of the vehicle you yourself own.
Kalahari Production: Built between 2001 and 2002; all as 2002 models.
350 produced total for the world. Almost all went to U.S. All in North American market.
150 in Borrego Yellow.
150 in Chawtoin White.
50 in Bonatti Grey.
There are two owners of the grey ones as active posters on Dweeb. And one has his in the photo albums, including the metal stamped LRSV tag in the engine bay.
Now go to the local dealer, turn in your keys, and buy an LR3, mallcrawler.
