Post Mud terrain tires?

What best mud terrain tire brand and model can you recommend for my Land Rover Defender?

I've seen some good choices, any advice on what should I buy?

Thanks

Well are you willing to run bias ply tires or we talking radials only? What is the price range you are looking at? How many miles are you expecting to get out of the tires? What type of terrain do you wheel mostly (Mud, Rocks, Dirt, etc)?

All these questions could lead someone from recommending say maybe Super Swamper TSLs, to recommending BFG Mud Terrain K/M2s depending on your answers. There are different levels of Mud Terrains, there are many options from mild to wild.

X3! For Bias ply; I recommend the Interco's. I like the Bogger, Irok, and the LTB for true offroad. SSM16 for mixed. For a Radial tire, I prefer the Yokohama Geolandar MT.

I have the Goodyear MT/R's with kevlar and they do suprisingly well in mud, much better than the old design and handle great on the road with almost no road noise!

bfg's are common and have great reviews. i like mine. they wear extremely well, especially since i drive on road 80% of the time. hook up great off road, but for goopey mud, they are a compromise.

Any answers from the OP? No use in trying to recommend TSLs if you don't want to run Bias Tires, or for the flip side of the coin no use in talking about BFG K/M2s if you want an extreme mud tire.

MTRs are not mud tyres and a pretty bad in the mud compared to MT tyres.

On this rare occasion I will have to say I agree with you. The old MT/Rs had a similar tread design like a lot of M/T tires so they are often called Mud Terrains when in reality they are "Maximum Traction/Reinforced". And the old MT/Rs don't perform the best in mud this is true. I haven't seen any of the new Kevlar MT/Rs in action, so I cannot attest to their performance, but just by looking at them I don't think they would be a serious mud tire contender. Williambrea has had good experiences in mud with them so they might have some kind of mud traction.

But this is all irrelevant not knowing the needs of the original poster. You can't suggest tires without knowing what the person is looking for unless you just want to play hit and miss. It wouldn't be prudent of me to type of a whole essay and why TSLs would be good for him, if he doesn't run anything more than some dirt/loose gravel trails.

Mickey Thompson MTZ's amazing tire, a little lacking in the sand, but a great wet tire, and performs very well over rock and gravel....Also I have put about 40k miles on my current set with about 30% tread left!

If you want a good road / Trail tire BFG AT's OR Super Swamper TSL Radials. If you want a MUD/ off Road tire Super Swamper Irocks are great but they wear quickly on the Steet. I had a set of 38x13.5x15 on my 94 dodge I got less than 40k outa them drivng them on the street 60% of the time.

It really depends on what the Original post want out of his tires

I find it interesting that the original poster has asked for advice, at least 3 or more of us have asked for more info to better make a informed suggestion and he still hasn't replied.

Not a good advert for your tyres when the photos have a winch cable out. You could have picked some photos where you are climbing some impossible hill or use photo editing to get rid of the winch cable.
