Default NATO "Wolf" Steel Wheels?

Is anyone running the Land Rover NATO "wolf" steel wheels on their Rangie? Do they have the same offset as the stock aluminum rims?

I'm installing the OME HD suspension setup, and would like to install 235/85 mud tires (likely the Bridgestones) on the Wolf rims, but want to avoid rubbing problems.

I saw mention somewhere of needing longer wheel studs with the steel rims--is this correct?

Thanks in advance for any tips you can provide.

Cheers,
drew

I have the exact same setup: Wolf wheels w/ 235/85/16 MT's. Same offset but about 1" narrower than the stock alloys. You should have no rubbing with this combo and a HD lift. I never had to adjust the steering stops either

Default Pics of your setup?

Sven,

Thanks for the info. Do you happen to have any pics of your setup. I'd like to see how it looks before I take the plunge.

Drew, you may be refering to a comment I made about the thickness of a genuine Wolf rim (not the cheap knockoff lookalikes) They are nearly twice as thick as a standard steel rim and it's reccomended that you replace your wheel studs with one which is 3/16" longer. Having said that, I am using genuine Wolf rims,(not on a RRC) and did not change my wheel studs, but you can see that the stud is still 3/16" shy of coming thru. Also, I don't think you'll want to use the lugnuts from your alloy wheels.

Default Rim thickness...

Terry,

I'm looking at these Rover's North units:
http://www.roversnorth.com/RRD04/RRD...D04_page44.htm

They claim to be Land Rover Genuine, but don't mention NATO-spec. Do you figure that these are the real deal, or are they the civilian-grade version?

I plan to run steel lug nuts with thru-holes, if I do go with these wheels. As a new owner, I've never even removed my Aluminum rims. Do the studs simply thread in and out of the hub, or would I need new/modified hubs for longer studs?

Thanks,
drew

You really dont need the NATO capacity for a RR. Those are 1 ton wheels, correct? They are HEAVY by steel wheel standards, and most people running those "cheap knockoff lookalikes" , do so to avoid the weight penalty and get less backspacing.
