Default New BFG MT, have you seen them?

Has anyone got or seen first hand the new BFG mud terrain tires? From the magazine reports they appear to be a cross of the old BFG mud terrains and the BFG Krawlers, and work very well. Just wondering if all the hype is true

I had a set of the 355s in the shop last year (they had a batch that came out a while back for 22" rims)

That batch, however, did not have the siping on the lugs...so it technically was a krawler tread, modified with more space in between the lugs. I had a thread on here where I posted pics...I'll find it and post it.

EDIT: here's the link...

NEW BFG Mud Terrain!!!

The new Hercules Trail Digger MT is one not to discount. They got a very good review and are available in rover sizes. Reasonably priced and the most aggresive radial MT I've seen short of a swamper. When I was getting some SSRs mounted yesterday they had a set in the shop and I was almost sorry I did not try a set.

Thanks for the link.
Seen the reviews about the Hercules too, appears to be a very good all round off road tire.

Petersons 4wheel and off road reveiwed them a few months back, they even found a little snow up high one day (though I suspect nothing like we see, these guys are all from California so snow and ice is something you have to look for in your deep freeze) and the Hercules seemed to perform well. I am torn between skinny BFG mud terrains (new type) and the Hercules trail diggers myself.

I seen the new Mudders today from BFG. Looks pretty bad-ass. Too bad the size selection in very limited.

Saw some today on a Wrangler in a driveway. They look good. I didn't think they looked as aggressive in person as they do in photos.

I'd be interested, but the rest of the common sizes won't be here until fall of 08 and I'm looking for a new set of rubber by spring.

Tirerack lists the KM2's in a 315/75/16 size, but are backordered... that's about a 35"

why is it that every rover i have seen runs narrow tires in comparison to other off road vehicles? I have a friend that is running a 255/85 16 on a disco1 with i think a 2-3in lift. the tire only has a contact patch of about 10.1in and the tire is 33.4in tall. most other vehicles would be running at least a 12.5. just cusious. thanks!

For me its the extra mass of a wide tire that makes me favor the skinny's.
Rover axles, engine power output and available gearing being what they are, I think that it is better to keep the unsprug weight down as much as possible.
Most domestic rigs have a stout drive train from the factory or can be retrofitted with such at far less cost and headache than a Rover, making the option of running big heavy tires more viable.
