Default new to forum... looking for new rims and tires for 06 RR hse...

Hey guys I'm new to this forum and have been browsing for several weeks, its a great place for info. thanks!

I've got a new 06 RR HSE and bought it for its great looks and luxury, but after the dealer took me on a day trip I can't get over how awesome this thing is off road! I've taken it out to Ocotillo and Anza Borego 6 of the last 8 weekends and none of the trails have stooped it yet. Now I'm looking for bigger chalanges and see the tires as the limiting factor.

Ive found almost nothing for the stock 19" rims, hoping you can help me find a good MT tire. I'm hoping to get a second set of rims, will 18"s fit on mine, because I've been told there are better options. I'm also open to 20's.

Then tonight I was looking through the RR official catalog and saw some mean looking MT's on the photo of the RR with the official winch. Anybody know what those are and what rims they are on?

thanks for your help!

Hey Roger, glad you taking her offroad. one thing that I might add is you might want to go with smaller rims rather than bigger ones. there are lots of advantages on going for smaller rims.

more tire options
cheap
greatly improve handling off pavement
etc

if you're going for muds and stuff, you shouldn't go for wider tires, you might not get the traction needed. and you would want to air down, so bigger rims=thinner tires makes it harder.

I've also been to Ocotillo and Anza Borrego Badlands before, have you tried Jacumba? that is one nasty trail for stock vehicle, just East of Indian Reservations on Campo.

My first trip also arranged by the dealer to Ocotillo last October I guess...it's all started from that trip

I've seen the tires used for MKIII G4 Challenges but I couldn't confirm the make of it, maybe someone would comfirm this one.

anyway, welcome to the forum.

They are Goodyear MT-Rs, but in a size that isnt sold in the US. Non DOT approved.

Roger,
You have a problem in that even your 19" wheels won't hold up off the road, much less 20 " or larger. You will tear the side walls out of them real quick cause they have no size, protection or strength needed to wheel and air down if needed.
A friend of mine recently bought the same vehicle, he has owned many Rovers in the past and also has a nicely built 97 D1 currently, he lost the tires to destroyed or failed side walls in Death Valeey a few weeks back.
You can not down size to a smaller wheel do to clearance issues, I'll try and find out from him what tire he switched to for a better then factory tire.

Default thanks

Thanks for the info guys, I'm going to look into those tires and I'll let you know if I can get them shipped over here.

On a side note, does anybody have any stock 19's they want to sell off?

Thanks,
Roger

Roger,
Just heard back from my friend Jeffrey, here is part of his e-mail, hope it helps.

The shoes I'm waiting for are:

Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armour in 265/60/R18.

A new size, as yet unavailable, but expected at the distributor any day.

Good luck,
Mike
