Cool! Showing off my new steel wheels. Finally recieved them and had them installed, I have to say, they would look much better with 305/60-16s, but I still love them! Also, the mudflaps wouldnt look so goofy, hanging way far in.....but they still serve a purpose, and I intend to keep them on (at least until I get sliders....maybe even after).
Anyhow, here are the pics, I like the first one the best....its a bummer my fence is in the way. This was also a flex test, but I couldnt get the vehicle to park on top of the rock, so I stopped it right before the crest. Btw, those are LR genuine steel lug nuts.....suprisingly inexpensive ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Nice Josh! Looks like a different truck! But why didn't the shop rotate the tire to try to get it more balanced on the rim instead of using so much weight? IMHO of course!

Anyhow...I went with the procomp steelies because they were 16"x8" and could accomodate wider tires then the silver 16x7"s.

Yes, you can get 16x7....im not sure why you would want to though....IMO 16x8" would be preferable because of its ability to hold a wider tire....and also some skinnier tires too. The size doesnt make a difference in price really....they are about $75 each from all the vendors. Total for me was ~$225 + tax + 50 to ship the 4 (one was delivered), then ~$60 for the lugs and to ship them, and then $16/wheel to get the tires switched out onto them and then balenced and put on. All in all, it looks like about $425. it seems worse then it is, considering it cost me $70 to fill up the tank today. :P ----soon its going to be getting the vehicle to the trails that cost more then the actual parts.

Hey Josh, the wheels look great on there, and it really fits your truck well. You have been doing a ton of nice work on your Disco.....it's looking good! As for the weights on the wheel, all moving the tire around would do(besides being a pain in the a@@), is move the imbalance to another spot on the rim. Balancing mud terrains can be a tricky job. The stuff on your tires when you got your wheels back just helps your tire slip on to the wheel and helps the bead seat. I used to use soap and water, don't know what exact concoction they use now. BTW Coca Cola also helps to seat a leaky tire bead! Just a little useless info from my tire installing days. |

Sometimes, but not always, you can rotate the tire on the rim to find a better balance to use less weight. Just depends if the shop is willing to do that.![]() They look good Josh....got me thinking now...

Your right that is very true, but uncommon for a brand new wheel to be out of round. Anyway.... the big thing like you said would be getting a shop to move the tire around. Anyway, way off topic sorry Josh! Once again, your new wheels really look great and like X said, you got me thinking too!!! |
