I wish I could get bigger tires now

Ive got higher priority stuff (and also less expensive stuff), but I was thinking about the FZJ80 or a Dana 60 rear/44 front axle swap so I could run 35"-36"s.

but there is other stuff that has to come first....like a winch and armor.

it would....I would have to cut. In the representation I actually trimmed quite a bit off both fenders. I wouldnt use a sawzall though! Probably a die grinder then lip the fenders if I can......if not, then I would get some fender flares to cover it up.

Gee, I thought that my balance weights were big, but that's about 3x bigger.
Josh, the rims look nice on your D2.
However, why would you want to put steel rims on your car, unless you're looking for strength in the off-road world ? As the weight of the rim is so much more than aluminum rims, there's a performance deficit (suspension wise), but this may also not be felt by the driver. Just curious....

I thought that too originally, but I found out that they actually arent very different in weight. They are about the same weight because the aluminum wheels are much thicker, so it makes them pretty even.

I went with steel wheels because I destroyed an alloy, and had two flats on the same trip. After banging for almost 2 hours to try to bend the alloy back so the tire would hold pressure, I was forced to give up because it really doesnt work on alloys. I swore that I would never have to do that again.....so here I am with 5 steel wheels I may eventually get a 6th wheel and tire so i will have 2 spares.

Yeah, I think the fender flares look cool on a Disco with trimmed fender wells. A j**per buddy of mine gave me his old fender flares.

And I agree about the steel wheels vs the alloys. I am actually a bit surprised I have never destroyed an alloy... ...are "offroad techniquies" are quite similar. By the way, finally got the RTE steering stuff on thanks to Frank.

Id be like

Its good to note; all in all, the cost of the wheels was close to $400. Wheels and lugs, plus labor.

So there is good reason to get the alloys....much cheaper.
