Off Road Tires for Disco II

I am interested in purchasing a set of off road tires for my 2000 Disco II. I am considering Michelin LTX AT tires 265/75/R16. The tires are approx. 3 inches larger in diameter than the stock tires. Are there any clearance or transmissions concerns for these larger tires?

I was thinking of using the Dunlop Radial Rover R/T's on my 99' Series II. I would have to go with a 245/75-16 though. I believe a 265/75-16 is too big without some mods. The Dunlops are an awesome tire.

I had them on my 96'. Quiet running and killer in the snow. I'm also thinking of going with General Grabber AT2's(similar tread pattern to BFG A/T's) because they sell it in the stock 255/65-16 and then I wouldn't have to purchase a spare.

Either of these tires will be more aggressive then the Michelin's. If you change tire size make sure to get a spare the same size so you don't tear up your diffs and transfer case. The one bad thing about all wheel drive. Anyway hope this helps.

Depending on what your plans are for off road driving, you have some choices. Go the way your talking for general of road or for a few dollars for go to either the BFG AT or the GoodYear MT's in either size. Realize that if you go to 265's you will have to do some lifting, you'll need a least 2"s for that size.
The reason I suggest these 2 tires is because of the 3 ply side walls, much stronger than any other tire.

I had the 245/75/16 BFG tires installed and they rubbed the inner wheel well on my Disco II a little on sharp turns. I am going to exchange for the 245/70/16 tires which gives me another half inch of clearance. Thought this would be of interest to you.

Hi guys, and ladies of course

This is my first post on this international LR forum.I am used to another, french one, but sometimes I think it is better to enlarge one's view in order to get more answers and share more experience.

I was coming as a visitor on this site, but I decided to register today, sinc eI like the spirit of the forum.

Well that's it for now, and let's talk LR.

I own a Disco II 2001, V8 4.0L with a 2 inches lift with the OME kit and I can confirm that with this lift 265/70 R 16 is the maximum size that I could put on the car.

Now, I have to change my tires (Pirelli Scorpion S/T) and I am really wondering what model to go for. I am in the desert each and every week-end, in the sand, but driving on motorway, rest of the time.

I selected the nex Pirelli STR, possibly the Michelin LTX (but it does not come in this size, only 245/75 is availiable and I would loose 2 cms on the width, which I would like to avoid for the sand). Somebody told be about BFG Macadam or Michelin Synchrone, but I find the profile being too much road profile.

Any one of you has anyy experience with these tires ?
