Bridgestone Dueller Revos Hands Down. Not even close. But you have to pay to play.

If you want to see what mud BFG ATs can cope with go and have a look at this video, The red D90 without the roof rack is on BFG ATs (and freestyle alloys, 5 pointy star version) and the one with the roof rack (Eva) is on BFG MTs. Can't rate them both highly enough!

well, i ended up going with the yokohama geolander a/t+ II. they were the best warrantied tire i could afford. we did go with the 245/75/16 on the 97 disco. i will have to do the camel trophy cut on the rear fender before i go out mudding again and the inside edge of the front apron plastic needed trimmed out slightly to clear the tire. they are so much quieter than the michelin's were at 84K miles lol... we will see how they do.

oh if you want 255 55 R19 goodyear MTRs they arent cheap and they can only be imported.

They are not DOT approved for the states. Goodyear UK told me they were but an email to tire rack gave me the right story. Anyway most tire stores or dealers wont mount non DOT tires on a vehicle. You can buy rims and kinda pay for everything kinda quietly with no trace as to what vehicle it is. But they wont mount them for you. Thats something you will have to do for yourself. Same thing as racing slicks.

The Bridgestone Revo's are an extremely good tire. Quieter than the BFG's, with better rain handling also. They are not as good in the mud or knarly stuff, but they aren't far behind.

I just got and LR3 with Nitto All Terrian Grapplers (285/65/18's) and they are really good. They fall right between the Revo's and BFG's for road feel and nosie, but are more aggressive than the Revos for off road. And they are not too expensive! ($145 or so)

Thanks! I don't know the specifics, but I'll see if I can find out. They are glossy, appear to be finished in a very thick painting and clear coated.

This vehicle is very rare, or so I'm told, and little research I've done seems to confirm that.

It's a US spec V6 model with an odd combination of options. It has sunroofs, but no tinted glass in the rear, it has heated seats, but no leather, and it has Coil Springs, instead of the air suspension. It is similar to a UK spec "S" model. It was a factory executive demo (the north american HQ is in Irvine CA, nearby to me). Somehow my dealer obtained two of these, and was in the process of adding about $12,000 worth of G4 Adventure "stuff" to them. They had just gotten the rims and tires done, and scheduled it to be outfitted with all the G4 stuff the next business day. I snagged it just in time (otherwise, I could not have afforded it).

Other work done includes painting out the front end & body molding in the monochromatic white color. The painting, along with the absence of dark tint to the rear, SIGNIFICANTLY changes the appearance of the rear quarter of the truck, making it look a bit less awkward in my opinion. The burly wheels complete the look.

In the end, I got a unique vehicle in my price range, and have a long last, satisfied my desire to own a Land Rover. I'm quite happy.

Here is a shot that shows the painted out front end:

yeah....wasnt there people on dweb saying they didnt exist? Perhaps this needs to be posted there too? I wonder if having coils means they may come out with a coil swap conversion for the LR3....and possibly even available lifts....could go a bit if you changed the shocks and springs....then even more if you replace the IS arms.

Ok, enough about the tires. Tell us more about the VW drag car. Im hoping it is an aircooled model. Ive got a 66ghia in the works (well the super slow version of the works since Ive got two boys and three rovers!). Hoping to run a pull through turbo on this one. I sold a 51 Standard Split window about 5 yrs ago to purchase my house. Life just isnt the same without it. It was in Hot VWs and VW Trends a couple times in show coverage and won a few trophies but I drove it every day. Nothing special in the engine just a well built 1835 with dual dells, but I built the motor myself and it was 10 yrs old when I sold it. I had a lot of time and sweat into that Split. Anyway, I probably should have PM ya but I miss my baby and you dont see too many other Rover/ classic VW fans. Gordo

btw, stock height disco 1 with front under bumper plastic stuff... 245/75/16 required inner trimming of the front underbumper plastic, but you cannot see it unless you look. rear requires camel trophy cut if you plan on any articulation. so, whoever said it would fit with no issue must not be running offroad. grrrr... but, i have the tires and miles on them now...
Ok, enough about the tires. Tell us more about the VW drag car.
the car is the ex-BACK in BLACK bug that ran in the bakersfield area. then, after it was retired, the Roseburg, Oregon HS bought the car in 91 and repainted the car, added lexan and tried to run a turbo unsuccessfully. It sat until i bought it last July and i am slowly bringing it back to life. I am putting a 2275 with 75 shot on the car by the end of this season, then going to a 100 shot next season. in the short term, we are sticking my 1904cc with a small T25 turbo to get some seat time in soon.
