Default Pirelli or BF Goodrich for stock Def 90?

OK boys,

I am running fairly stock suspension but outfitted well Defender 90, 1994
believe stock size is 265/75 -16

I am over in Africa, my choices are junk china and India tires or a shop that has BF Goodrich and Pirelli. I have run BF AT on chevy products in the past with good results but the Pirelli are a bit less expensive. we are talking about $250 each vs $200 each so making the right decision is important.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance

The pirelli scorpion A/T is a great tire. I've never run their M/T though. So if you decide to get an M/T, I'd stay with the BFG. On the A/T, I'd save the money and go Pirelli.

The pirelli is a good tire but they are a very soft rubber and wear out very quickly.
Get some BFG's, I run a 265 MT BFG and average 50,000 mile plus a set.

Update question:

the current and looks like standard equipment size is 205
is there any reason not to upgrade to a 235or245 size?
any problems or concerns there?

A 235/85/16 tire is a 32", the same overall diameter as your first question (265/75/16). So you'd be in the same ballpark. At only 30mm wider than the 205, you should be fine for clearance. Only minor rubbing on full articulation, or lock to lock.

Hey Xtreme,

My original post was wrong about the size. that is what the eWeb said was stock but turns out not to be accurate for my rig. the 28" is what is called for. the new question is there any reason why i would not go bigger to a 32" tire? Gear wise or other.

I am in Rwanda so parts are not supper easy to get and are expensive if i am going to create any issues.

thanks for the help.
