Default Quick question for onwers of Nitto Terras and General AT2

I like both choices but can someone give me feedback on both models. Pictures will help too.

Nitto Terra Grabbers or General AT2

I am sure I am not the only one with the same dilema; especially if you want to keep your 18" wheels... or not.

Thanks very much

Here you go:

No flat spotting like the Wranglers. No really rough trails but they handle well both on and off-road. Very quiet on road. Just had them rotated. They adjusted the tire pressure to I think 35/40 psi. Its very smooth now and the occasional rear seats don't even rattle now. I think I will reinflate them to 40/50 psi when I hit the highway though.

Not sure which you're looking at but General AT2 255/60R18 isn't available yet in NA I don't believe.

Stock size for 18" RR is 255/55 and yes it is available in the US.
See here
IMHO the AT2 is a cheaper tire with good reviews but not a long history like the Nitto. I would go with the AT2 and I will when my Hankooks wear out in about 2 more years.

Only guy to get a flat in a full day of wheeling with 15 trucks was the guy with the 18" rims and Nittos last weekend. Admittedly it was not beginner terrain, but the begginers did fine anyway.

Thanks for the replies, yes I know the AT2s don't have much history but wanted to see some pictures like the one Devil Disco provided on the Nittos.

Anyway your answers are very much appreciated

Figman,
What are you planning on doing with your truck, how much off roading in what sort of conditions?

I've been very happy with the General AT2's in 255/55-18.

They're handling terrific in the snow now, pretty darn close to the BFG AT's I had on the old Freelander which were excellent. So close in fact that any difference may come down to simply the mass of the Disco vs. the Freelander.

In mud they do quite well though I haven't had the chance to really put them into anything really nasty. They've got a nice deep shoulder on the side which is much better than the Nitto's.

Unfortunately I don't have any pictures where I can point to them at the moment. But suffice it to say they've got a nice aggressive stance to them.

i work at a shop here locally and we do alot of wheel/tire upgrades. the most popular tire BY FAR is the terra grappler. never heard a bad thing about them, and they look great. we put them on everything from stock chevys to 8" lifted dodges, everyone loves them.

Thanks everyone for your replies, Jupiter thanks for the pictures too.

Disco Mike, I dont do any serious off-road (I wish I did) what I want to do is to improve from my HP Wranglers to be able to handle the ocasional dirt roads to camping trips and the most importantly better traction on snow during the winter in NY. Of course both tires look great I am still undecided on which I like better. But as you I have ACE on my truck and mine still under LR warranty so with my luck!! I chance something and tomorrow I get blame for. For now, I don't want to do major modifications other that better tires, later on I will for for the 2" lift, bigger tires, and the steel bumper and other things.

Thanks again to all

This week we got dumped on with the largest snow storm in 30 years. My street had well over two feet of unplowed snow on it.

The Disco got out and around the street with no problems. The TC only came on once when snow was piled up to the top of the hood as I plowed through it. The Grabber AT2's were absolutely awesome in the deep snow.

It was the first major snowfall I've had them for and I have to say that I was impressed. They definitely exceeded my expectations.

More details and pictures here:

Like you I wanted out of the Wrangler HP's as quick as possible. Bigger mods are coming down the road, but for now I wanted to stick with stock size until I do the lift. The Grabber AT2's fit the bill.

I have 255 55 18 terra's and i love em. They work really well in the mud for not serious off road tires.

almost 40K on my Terra Grapplers (255.55.18) and they have tons-o-thread left. Great tire for I have needed them for.
