I have seen a couple of posts about you guys talking about the Nitto Terra Grapplers, I am probably not going to sell the Rover after all and am looking to get 16" wheels. I have already spoken to a couple of people about them, but waiting to hear back. I see you guys are paying like $650+ for the tires. Is this for all 4 or 5 of them? What size tire? I mean, I know that I can get tires at wholesale because I have a vendors license and sell wheels/tires, but that price just seems high. Someone please feel me in if you are talking about 4 or 5 tires and if that price is mounted/balanced/valve stems, etc...

which brand are you talking about? Nittos are popular for those who chose to keep the 18"s....
I paid $800 for 5 tires out of the door. the works. BFG AT 265/75-16

i have the nitto's. they work great offroad. but i only got them because i have 18in rims. if your going to 16in get the bfg mud terrains. and 650 is for four tires. there pretty expensive. but one good thing about the nittos is that the tread does not wear down fast. so take into consideration if your on pavement more than dirt. because mud terrains wear pretty quickly and same goes for all terrains. nittos definately last the longest.

well that is just it, I don't want to go with the BFG Mud Terrain because they wear quickly and are noise on the road. I am not going to be switching tires back and forth, so I want a really good all around tire. I'm not taking the rover through 10 inches of mud, so I don't have to worry about that. I have been looking at the following:
Nitto Terra Grappler (both in 16" and 18") Yokohama A/T-S BFG All-Terrain T/A KO I haven't made up my mind yet, but for example, I can get the Nitto's(since I have a vendor license for auto parts) @ $115 each for the 18" and $96 each for the 16". That is pretty darn cheap if you ask me. I figured once I got the rims, I would put a post out there asking for some help with picking a tire for my driving style. Thanks, Andy |

most of the BFG AT last >40K at least, that's long enough...I don't think Nittos with thinner threads depth could outlast that... BFG AT is better for an all around tire compare to Nittos. Nitto is jack of all trades, king of none.

BFG Muds will generally last longer than normal road tyres. If you want a good alrounder, try Goodyear MTRs. Not really a full mud tyre, but are good on the road and medium off-road stuff.
