Default Recommended tire size

I am installing a 2" OME lift on my 96 Disco and I am trying to decide on a mud tire size.
I do not like the over stuffed look, but I do not like the too small look.
The most preferred tire for this lift seems to be 265/75R16. I feel this will be a bit too tall especially under gnarly terrain. I am also looking at the 265/70R16.

Any comments, suggestions, thoughts??
Maybe some photos will help me decide.
Thanks

Compromise and stay with a 245/75/16, great size for a D1

235/85r16 is the best with that spring set up.

My humble opinion.

Thanks for the opinions!
Would there be any rubbing problems with the 235/85's or for that matter 265/75's?

Is there any metric size ~ 31 x 10.5??

Disco Mike makes a great recommendation. The 245/75R16 is just about 30.5" tall. Stock tire on the D1 measures only about 29". Jumping up 1.5" would be a great fit. There are quite a few really good MT and At's in this size as well so prices aren't that bad. If you plan on stuffing the tire hard when wheeling, this size should tuck up in there nice without biting your fenders.

On my Discovery with 1.5" suspension lift and 2" body lift.
I run 7.50x16's which have a section width of not quite 9" and an OD of slightly over 32".
With those I had to trim the lower rear corner of my rear wheel well due to rubbing when off-roading.
These are what I normally run both highway and off-roading.
LT235/85R16 would be about the closest with a 9.3" section and 31.9" OD
With a ragged out 3.9L those tires make me have to shift down more than I might otherwise.

I also have a set of LT245/75R16 that don't require any trimming and give me a better performance on the highway as far as hills are concerned.

I'm going back and forth on the 235/85 and 245/75s. How much of a dog is the 235/85 going to make my old 3.5? Also will the 245/75 fit in the spare tire spot without mods?

Well, it's all perception. I've been driving pretty much only Land Rovers for about 34 years, so obviously I have a few miles in a Series. Going slow doesn't bother me. Some people want lots of power and acceleration so it would bother them. For me it's not so much of a dog as it is a puppy.

My 3.5 is not really all that bad now with 225/75s. It will cruise 75+ on the interstate no problem. That said it's not a speed demon like my Mini Cooper S. I noticed a difference when I put larger/heavier tires on the Cooper. I guess my main concerns are ability to carry a spare and the wear on the tranny and steering bits.

That said I've got a RTE HD spring and OME HD shock 2" lift. Probably adding RTE HD in the near future.

I went from 225/75 to OME 2" and 235/85 in my 1995 rrc. I didn't mind it. It was slower, but I also removed front and rear anti-sway bar to free up articulation, so I probably slowed down a bit anyway!

A 7.50x16 spare just clears the rear bumper.
