Default Rim Painting Question

I'm thinking of painting my rims on my black '00 D2. I was thinking of painting them black but I think it will be too much black for my liking. I still want a dark color and was thinking of painting them gunmetal. What do you guys think? Are there any Rovers on this site with painted gunmetal rims? What other dark color options might work? Thanks in advance.
Jason

Consider that there are some other coatings that might be more durable, but I've seen "gun metal" interpreted as a lot of different shades. The Kalahari had dark gray wheels... maybe scope those out.

I painted 2 of my wheels today. I'll finish the other 3 this week. I chose Gunmetal metallic to paint the wheels. The only pics I have is the spare tire mounted on the back of the Rover. It really came out good and I like the way it looks on the Rover. Hope you guys like it too.

I have 2 more rims to paint. I didn't buy enough paint, therefore, I didn't finish it. Hopefully I'll have it finished tomorrow, then I'll post more pics.

Not bad at all man!!! I've been wanting to paint my alloys for awhile now. But I will probably wait til' I get new tires mounted and balanced.

Looks great man!!

i have the black rims 5 spoke on my rrc (original). i like the look alot w/ my black paint. but i need to take off the running boards for off roading and it looks to pimped out. it came w/ tinted widows so i get alot of looks in it. that paint job look sweet! was it a spray paint or did u have to brush it on? does anyone know if it cost alot to fix the scrapes out of rims?

He said he used "Gunmetal Metallic", and that does look like a good color to use.

Probably used a rattle can to do it, but either way; rattle can or spray gun, it looks good.
