i was thinking about getting my wheels line-x, but have them try to take out that rought sandpaper stuff like in a truck bed so the wheels look smooth atleast. And bedliner is strong so scratches shouldn't be a problem anymore

YEAH
I feel like a kid on Christmes The nice UPS driver delivered 5 16" wheels today. They look nearly new. The previous owner took great care of them & they have never been off road. ![]() Until now: I cannot wait to slap on new 265 75 16's BFG Mud tires. After searching, questioning, & reading we have decided to try to paint them satin black. First we are going to attempt to mask off the most outer 1/4" crease. ![]() We set the rims on the truck and took photos, then cololred them in with markers to get an idea of the outcome. With the chrome lugs we think it will look the best. ![]() (Since this photo we did ad on OME heavy duty spring & shock lift.) Thoughts & comments welcome. I am flying out of town for a few days then will return and hopefully start to mask & paint. |

take some pics when u get it done!! r u going to use a spray or brush? go w/ the spray and do a light layer, let sit and then do another light layer and u will get a nice smooth coat and u will not get a thick coat at once that may run. i learned by alot of trail and error, doing alot of spraying for my art work. take your time and good luck!!!

Well, I finally finished painting the rims this evening.
As I stated I wanted to leave a silver band around the exterior of each rim rather than painting them entirely black. I did not think I was going to have such a difficult time masking off a crisp, clean, even line. At first I tried everything but just was not satisfied. Finally, my son & I, built a lego 'jig/tool' to hold the blade with wheels that we could run around the exterior lip of the wheel. ![]() Luckly it worked great!! So here are the before and after photos. As requested. ![]() ![]() So now I patiently wait for our tires to be delivered. ![]() |

i just thought of something that might help u or the next person that wants to leave the silver around the edge. i am an artist and use a circle compass w/ a razar blade that is conected to cut out circles. i was thinking that u could tape around the edges then find the center of the rim and line up the compass and lightly cut the tape to make the edge. i have acouple of compass's so i could find the name of them. i have one that can cut a 24" circle or more.

THX for the suggestion. In my former life I was a draftsman so I also have a compass with extension. I tried the setup as you described but I had a difficult time making it work as well. Had I not come up with the whole Lego tool, I probably would have made the compass work. I am not as dependable as I once was so it may have been me, and the next guy would prefer the method you suggest. THX for the comments. ![]() |
