Default Several Wheel Questions

1. Can you put 15'' rims on a '90 RRC with ABS? I've seen 15'' on other RRC's but they seem to be older, so I'm not too sure.

2. What is the factory offset of RRC wheels?

3. Anyone running beadlocks? Haven't seen them on many Rovers, I don't know if this is because they aren't readily available in the sizes and bolt patterns or just because people don't like them and use their Rovers for daily drivers.

Thanks for any input you guys have. Thanks a lot.

Well the answer to #3 as to why people aren't running beadlocks, is that they are not DOT approved and you can get a ticket for them... I doubt most cops would have any clue though.

I know people run 15"s on Discos so they should work on the RRC because they are practically the same vehicle.

People run bead locks you'll see them at a number of the Rover events like MAR and other big events but it's not "as" popular as on Jeeps because there are fewer rock crawler Rovers out.

1. Yes 15" rims are fine

2. How are you measuring offset, there are several ways?? Regardless if you go for after market wheels you'll ideally want more backspace clearance as there are several advantages to this.

3. Yes beadlocks are available, but pricey and unless you have a specific need for them why bother running them?

I would just measure it in inches the distance from the lip of the wheel closest to the axle to the hub mountin pad inside the wheel. (Less offset means rim is sticking out farther). Do you have this measurement on a stock RRC wheel? Any measurement would work though, I'm sure I could convert it.

I just wanted to see if there were some cheaper beadlocks. There would be no point in not running them (since mine rig is off road only) if they were economical, but you've let me know that they aren't.

Thanks

Some of the Rover Off road suppliers sell bead lock wheels for the Rover I can't remember exactly which ones do though. But you can always just buy a kit and covert your wheels. Would probably be cheaper anyway I think the ones I have seen where fairly expensive.

Couldn't see it at first, but damn, that looks really nice. Did you have them custom make them for you or do they regularly make them? I didn't see that size listed on their site. How much did they cost you? I just e-mailed them about the pricing for the weird (to the US) bolt pattern and see if they had to custom make them.

Little off topic, but how do you like running the LTBs?

You can run internal beadlocks that are legal.

http://www.secondair.com/

You only really need beadlocks if you are going run run your air pressure less than 10PSI. Tubeless tyres are good down to around 15 PSI, fitting tubes will hold the tyres on to around 10 psi, then you are looking for beadlocks.

Why do you want 15 inch rims instead of 16 inch. There are adavantages and disadvantages of both.

Care to expand on that?

I'm curious as well.

I know most 16'' tires have better load ratings, and most of the time stronger sidewalls, but other than this, I don't see any other advantages to a 16'' rim used off road.

They are not custom, Allied stocks them. They go for around 180 a wheel. Love the LTBs.
