Tire technology is a black art, we buy into a consortium with a bunch of other universities to pay a company to do tire testing becuase they are such a crucial part of the handling of a vehicle and we need to know. The mfrs will never give you the data you need or desire, trade secrets.

Here in Washinton siping is very common. People tend to get their tires siped for winter driving once their tires have lost some grip. I live about two hours from Canada where we get a lot of snow, so poeple either get studded snow tires or sipe the studdless tires that they have.

i siped my last set of KO's...it was really helpful for the few nj snow storms but it wasent to helpful in the summer, not even effectful in the summer offroading
