Same in New Jersey at least.. my Jeep had larger backspacing on the rims and the tires stuck out 1.5" ... failed inspection, had to put wider fender flares on.

Do they have rules on sawzall abuse and electrical disarray?

I suppose if I lived in the UK I would have to get a 110 to trailer Molly...
As long as it was safe and did not have any sharp edges then it would probably be ok.

However they are getting stricter all the time.

I can see the sense in some of it, but other things its just a PITA.

I did the skinny thing for years. Now, I got 13.50's. My truck is crawling things it has never been able to do before. It's a whole nother truck.

I was a little worried at MAR because of all the mud. But shit, the thing was still trucked along. Besides that, I was able to turn out of the rut that trapped other people from turning.

In the rocks, a wider tire is better. I have not drivin them in the snow, yet, but I have a feeling I will not be disappointed.

That is also my perception, though I have to admit to not having tried skinny tires on the rocks. You just rarely ever see 'em out west.

When you went to the wider tyre did you also change tyre pattern?

I think overall a wider tire is better, but they are a pain in the ass in the mud. They throw mud everywhere. Cant expect to hit a puddle with out covering the sides in mud. But I guess the coat of mud could help protect the paint from brush.

I prefer wider tires, and have seen them work better in certain terrain than skinnier tires. Also, IMO, they look better sticking out an inch or so...

I asked this question before and i thought he answered it really well

Fat wide tires = basically skim on top of mud

Tall skinny = cut through mud...

i'm going with it depends where you wheel, and what you drive. over the summer i was really hurting because i'm running a 12.50" tire on a 10" rim, and being so light my tires just wanted to spin and not get any traction, even when down to 10 psi. however during discodude's rescue mission this comination was awesome, i didn't have any issues through the snow, and i even started on a fairly steep and slick hill that i thought prolly wasn't going to happen. however when i get new tires, i am seriously considering 34x9.50's for summer/ offroad this should help to put more pressure per sq in on the rocks and give me a little bit more power, while on road and winter i'm going to continue with my current setup. there is another point to be made here, if you run a tall and narrow you're going to wear your tread out much faster, so some of your decision should be baised on how much your wallet can take.

True, but flip-side is pizza cutters are MUCH cheaper. LTBs are about the best value around.

So it's kind of a wash.

Haha, Iv been to one of those. there pretty cool. talk about white trash tho

All the camel trophy rigs had very skinny tires. Look what they conquered.
