That's not very practical, even for the mall.

You'll chew up that rear quarter panel quick, fast, and in a hurry if you take it off road. Unless you do some cutting. A friend of my put 245/75's, about an inch shorter, on his and found out the first time out that he should have trimmed the rear quarters.

Not on a totally stock truck, you would need some trimming. but as i understand it, you wouldnt need any suspension or body lift.

If you stand a 235/85/16 up next to a stock truck, the top of the tire will be above the top of the fender well cutout. I have a pic to prove it(just need to figure out how to get it off my cell phone) If the tires were mounted to the truck, it would be about even. I had my 235/85/16's mounted to my rims before I did my lift and they would not fit. I had to add a ~2.5" lift and make a spacer to push the rear quarters out an inch before I was comfortable mounting them. I drove my stocker D1 with 225/75/16's for a while and they were a nice size, though a little smaller than stock for a D1. Before that I was running 205/85/16's so we're talking really tiny. I would advise against running anything larger than stock with factory suspension, you can get away with it on a RRC though.

It was loaded with about 1600 pounds of stuff when those pics were taken. It sits about 1.5 inches higher unloaded so the pics are close to stock, maybe an inch higher.

That link is pretty correct. You can fit 32 inch tyres (235/85/16) with the bottom edge cut as in the article. But this applies to stock rims. If you start playing around with offsets, you may have to do more.
As stated in the article, a suspension lift by itself does not allow bigger tyres to be fitted. You either have to limit the upward travel of the wheels (lowered bump stops, stiff springs, etc) or move the body away from the wheels (body lift)

Here’s pic of my 98 Disco with 235/85R16s. I have Land Rover heavy duty springs and a 1.5in. aluminum spacers in the rear. The springs have been on the truck for 7 or 8 years so they are sagging a bit. I do get some rubbing at the back of the rear wheel opening when the suspension is compressed.
