I have cooper STT 275/65/r18's MT'son my LR3, but I DO NOT SUGGEST THESE AS DAILY DRIVER TIRES. They have pretty much taken away the sharp, and nice handeling of the car your use to. Their are also a set of AT's , the brand is Nitto Terra Grappler 285/65/r18 and they are nice and handle great as I've heard both on and off-road

I would also look at the General Grabber AT 2. Very nice tire and I beleive it comes in your size. I know for a fact it comes in 255/55/R18.

Thanks for the info on the tires. To confirm the conditions of my 255 60 R18 tires, Yes the rears are worn and yes the fronts are on their way too. After my steering rack went out they replaced my tires but aligned them with the wrong calibrations. They replaced those tires at their expense. After they replaced the compressor twice for the lift I had to have the rear tires replaced again because they worn out. After 27,000 miles on the vehicle I am about ready to abandon Land Rover.

although doing an alignment on one isnt easy. You have to get the vehicle to set itself down first of all.

Air ride can be kind of tricky in an LR.

Default LR3 tires worn out? (Goodyear)

For those who are having abnormal wearing of Goodyear tires on the LR3 (especially 2005), are any of you in the San Francisco Bay Area? I'd like to actually compare the wear of the tires side by side, so if you're in my area and still have your worn tires, please give me a shout! Thanks!

dont bother the wear will be the same, the rears will be worn on the insides. The chopping is normal.

Remember the English dont recommend rotation. An alignment will help the vehicle get back into specs.

Only an alignment.

Would these 255/55/R18 fit on mine? I called continental to see if the tires in my size - 255/60/R18 - were available but they aren't & they couldn't give me a date when they would be in north america. I don't understand the sizing stuff too well so sorry if I sound dumb

TN - was the ride on your coopers really bad? I grew up with trucks so a semi-bumpy ride wouldn't bother me - as long as I still feel in control of it.
Both the cooper stt & nitto are bigger tires (right?), so will they rub or anything like that?

Yes those 285's are a 32" tires and will rub more than likely on the normal ride height of the LR3. If you drive with the suspension at its peak they would be fine but your ride will suffer a bit.

actually the nitto 285/55/r18's i think? don't rub at all in the LR3's, now my old cooper STT 275/65/r18 were a different story.

The ride on the LR3 wasn't really that bad after i put them on, I actually liked it better than the stock tires. It is a semi bumpy ride sometimes and they do have some tire whine, they also rubbed a little at full turn on one side but a dremel tool fixed that. Now you are going from a 30' tire to a 32' mud tire, but the end result was great. I prefered driving with the coopers than stock but it did slow the LR3 down a bit.

and what I said up their was a different veiw because i was driving my moms 04' RR for a week and the transition was big.

I have a friend that is running They are the Nitto Terra Grapplers. 285/60/18.
I have been on the trail with him and ws really impressed with their traction on his 05 LR3 with a rear locker.
Go check them out, they fit well and great traction.
