Default Tires for my 96 Disco 1

If we get this 1996 Discovery 1, I will need to get new tires for it. We get lots of snow, measured in feet many times each winter here in Erie, PA. All lake effect, wet heavy snow. I will be looking for a good all terrain tire, that has a decent tread life, fairly quiet on the road and goes well in the snow. I remember reading where a guy ran Dunlop radial rover RT tires, but that style has been changed now. They lived in upstate NY and get snow like we do, they were able to claw there way up thier snowed in drive with a disco 1 with those tires. Any of you eastern states folks got suggestions for a year round tire on my disco 1 ? Thanks Mike and Michele T

I take that back, dunlop's website still shows the Radial Rover RT tires. I will have to call the tire place on Tuesday if I end up with this rover. Cheers Mike

I have Dunlop radial rovers on my pick up and Bridgestone Dueler A/T REVO's on my landy the Bridgestone's are a much better tire and you pay for it used them in deep snow mud etc they always got me out.

Here is another direction you might want to look at,
http://high-tec-retreading.com/DesktopDefault.aspx
This is a high tech retread that has traction far above most speciality snow tires.
A number of people in the Colorado club are using them with great results, the price is right, better then studs and the price is right.
Go read up on there Green Diamond tread as well as their other treads.

I like the high-tec tires I have a set on my DI. They are the OTR Muds I'm really pleased with them they work well and have not let me down yet on mud or rocks.
