Default Wheel Alignment?

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this subject... please correct me if it's not.

Earlier this afternoon a couple of friends and I were discussing (over a pitcher of beer) whether to get a wheel alignment before or after installing new tires.. We were talking about the newer 4 wheel independent suspension LR3s, as well as, the older model D2s. With everything being computerized this or laser that these days there were certainly different opinions.

Anyway, should you get your Landrover aligned before or after installing new tires? Or does it even matter anymore?

If you were going to do an alignment and get tires I would do it after the tires. shouldn't really make a difference since alignments arent necessary unless you change suspension or steering linkage parts (or hit a big pothole),but if your doing it you might as well do it set up the way it will be used.

The only thing you can adjust is toe anyway, and you can do that with a spare curtain rod and a tape measure. Good idea to check with new tires so you don't start a funny wear pattern.

Don't do an alignment unless there is a reason to.
Unusual tire wear, not from low air or lack of rotations, or pulling, not caused from low air or a separated tire belt.

Thanks for your answers guys.

No alignment unless needed seems to be the best way to go.
