Default Wheel spacers on Disco 1

I was going to get wheel spacers and larger tires for my 96 Disco1, primarily to fix the "sunken look" of the stock wheels and tires.

Saw "300bhp" used them. Anyone else?

Don't mind doing some trimming or the mpg loss. Not ready to lift it yet, but may in the future. Won't be doing any off-roading... I use my CJ7 for that.

With the spacers, how big of a tire can I use?
Where should I trim?
Can I get costom wheel well molding after I cut or use the molding from another Rover as a template?
What's the bolt pattern on the D1?

If anyone has pics of wheel/tire mods for the D1, can you send them or send a link?

Thanks,
Shamus

The bolt pattern is 6.5" x 5.

As for trimming, with a 2" OME lift I was running 285/75r16 tires and the only thing I had to cut was the plastic sill protectors although that was street driving only so putting more strain on the suspension might've caused some fender rubbing. You can get several different kits of fender flares, some fit on without even trimming.

What you can run without a lift or a trim, well here's a chart I found helpful:

Thanks Ben.

I found wheels I want that fit the Disco1 bolt pattern (5x6.5) in Land Rover Internatioal Magazine. They're Pro-Comp series 8089.

But when I did a Google Search for places in the states that carry that wheel, they all listed a bolt pattern of 5x135mm.

Is 5x135mm the same as 5x6.5?

Thanks guys,
Shamus

I think it converts to 5x165.1mm

I try it out yesterday, no such chance. I can't wait till Monday to see if anyone makes a conical seat lugnut with a 16x1.5 thread on it. Will update on what I find out.

Rovers North.com - Land Rover Series, Defender, Discovery and Range Rover Parts - LUG NUT - STEEL WHEELS

These are the ones I use. They work well but rust fast.

How do you like the wheels? I wanna order a set!

The wheels look good and seem to be very well made. Once I get the lugnuts in, I'll put them on and shoot a pic.

So my lugnuts arrived this past weekend. I set them up to the wheel, and they still don't work. They're both not long enough, and far too big. It fits into the recess of the wheel perfectly, but there isn't a thinwall socket in the world that will work as the 1-1/8 head is far too big. So just FYI, factory Rover lugnuts for steel wheels don't work either. I did manage to locate a manufacturer that makes some aftermarket chrome ones in 7/8 and 13/16 hex sizes. I compared a 13/16 headed lugnut with the factory steel one and I don't see how those could work as the hole for the 16-1.50 studs is almost as big as the 13/16 head itself. I'll shoot some pics tommorrow to show in more detail of what I mean.

That's curious, the spacers I have I use stock steel lug nuts.

My spacers from Equipe use a 7/8" nut.

Not dealing with the spacers... This is dealing with the wheels suggested as above. See the pics below.
Here's the wheel, needing a conical lugnut (ie steel wheel type).

Here's the wheel with the lugnuts suggested by Procomp.

A 13/16's headed lugnut with the factory Rover steel lugnut.... hmm.. I don't think there could be a lot of structural integrity for that. But what do I know?
