Default Wheel swap (my 16s for your 18s)

Just picked up my 96 Disco 1. Its got the stock 16 inch 5 star wheels. I know a lot of people are looking to go down to 16s so that they can wheel and have more options for larger tires. I'm not. I've got a CJ to wheel, so my Disco won't see any offroad action.

So if anyone wants to do an even swap and grab my 16s, which are in great shape with great tires, I'd be glad to have your 18s. I don't care about the condition of the tires on them, as I'll be getting new ones.

I'm in CT, but I'd be glad to meet anyone half way.

Thanks,
Shamus

Oh boy, here we go with the Jeep bashing. Listen, there's no question that the Land Rover is a quality vehicle. It's solid, luxurious, and drives like a dream... But there's nothing like a Jeep off road and I don't think ANY Discovery could match my CJ, but if anyone wants to give it a try, I'll bring my winch to bail you out, just so there's no hard feeling.

don't go getting your panties in a bunch EM meant the comment in good fun.....

I wouldn't go making such blanket statements about the disco's though. A well driven stock disco will leave a lot of mild to medium modified vehicles scratching thier heads in wonder. I saw it happen on sunday from a group of jeeps.

Your new to rover's though and maybe haven't seen what's out there yet for comparison.

Yeah, I know its good fun... my reply was just to break stones. Sorry if it came off as a little brash. I was totally joking around. Should have thrown a smile in.

24 hours in and I absolutely LOVE my Land Rover though. Its extremely solid, well refined, and though it's built like a tank and is as powerful as one too, it actually has surprisingly good road manners, is perfect to drive, and feels a lot smaller than it is. I'm quite impressed. When compared to the Discovery, my CJ is the equivalent of trying to walk a drunk girlfriend home.

Thanks guys.

Come to Colorado and lets have a little fun with your jeep, heck, I don't mind pulling one once in awhile, good practice.

Shaymer; It was just in good fun. lol! But after seeing photos of your Heep, I'm happy I have winch equipped rovers. lmao! Nice Sticker collection. Can we get an under the hood shot to see if you really have it BDS equipped? Those tires don't do the rest of the truck justice, for sure. I was impressed until I saw those. lol.

BTW; My #1 wheeling buddy drives a Heep , so it's all good. He's got a CJ7 with a TH400, and a Corvette 327 in it. Dana 44 rear, and 35" Cooper SST's. He's towed me out a few times.

Under the hood...
Under the hood I've got a AMC 360 out of a Grand Wagoneer!
Its more power than I really need, but it jumps like a raped ape!
Bought it for $1400 and pretty much replaced everything.
I'm waiting to bust the tranny, than I'm putting in the 5 speed sitting in my garage.

I'll tell you what. The Discovery is one sweet truck. If Lexus made a tank, it would say 'Land Rover' on the hood.

Disco I choices are pretty much limited to England. LRM and LRE magazines have a lot of suppliers with 17 and 18 inch offerings for the Def/RRC/DI, but then you got to deal with shipping as well as the 2 to 1 conversion prices.

Better to look for 16" or 17" that you like the looks of. Or even go down to 15" which there are a lot of options for.

Other idea is to buy wheel lug adapters from the UK to convert your DI to a P38/DII bolt pattern, then you can get the DII wheels you want.
