Default Wheels and Tires for D1

I know you guys have been over this a billion times but I am new to the Rover world and need a bit of help. I recently purchased a 98 D1 and got the OME 2" HD kit installed. I then got the QT diff guards. Now to tires and wheels. What is your recommendation for this? So far from what i have been reading 245/75/16??? Since I like the steel black wheels best what size should those be?? 16x8? 16x7? Bolt pattern 5x6.5? Now the most confusing part to me... Back spacing.. What should these be at??? Any help would be great.

Look through photos and lots of them. For affordability; stick with stock land rover wheels. Any steelie from a SIII, or a DI spare; and all alloys from Defenders, DI, and RRC will fit your truck. Just decide which looks the best in your opinion. Then you can get a set pretty cheap from online (fleabay, craigslist, LR forums) 7 or 8 inch widths are fine, since you already have the lift, and I would personally go with a 265/75/16 (32") tire with the set-up you are running.

I thought this page was really helpful:

Tire Recommendations for Land Rovers - D.A.P.

I have a 96D1 and am going with the 2" lift and the 245/75-16's...just like the picture. I'm keeping the original rims although would have no problem switching to black steel.

I'd be interested on the on-road performance of these BFG's if anyone has an opinion. This truck surely needs to be on road worthy.

20 mm's of width, or 0.8 inches; at their widest point. And 15 mm's of height; divided by 2 for the half of tire on each side of the rim; so 7.5 mm's, or a total difference in height of less than a 1/4" inch overall.
So in plain and simple terms, a 265/75 is less than a 1/4" taller, but 8/10" inch wider than a 245/75. On average. Each manufacturer differs slightly, but that's the math of it.
