I'm building up a DII with a 3" emu lift, ARB bullbar, and Rovertym rear bumper, and a set of 285/75/16 Goodyear MTR's. Will they fit?
Rovertym says yes but from the posts I see most will say no. Stock axles and QD's for the front sway bar. I have no desire to trim. Any thoughts? ![]()

Some people have made it work, my concern is the strain put of th fragile Disco diffs and axles, they won't take it for long especially if you want to play hard.
You will also loose an easy 2MPG with the tire sizes plus a loos of power. Mike |

As they are a bias ply tyre, they are a bit lumpy until they warm up and then they are fine. You can hear them inside the car, but it is more of an annoyance rather than load. But people outside the car keep on looking for where the plane is landing.

I too love those tires. On those D2's they look killer. The closest we'll ever get to that look is with super swampers. But damn would I like some simex

You'll rub a bit on the radius arms at full lock, but you'll get used to controlling your steering. No harm. Quote:

As far as trimming goes, you shouldn't have to --- however --- I'm not sure the OME springs measure a true 3"? Talk to Steve about this. I would recommend the Rovertym 3" springs. One recommendation for your build: rocksliders. Probably a more important upgrade than bumpers.

Putting a spring lift of more than 2 inches starts a domino affect of alterations.
They usually obtain the spring lift by putting stiffer springs which stuff up your articulation off road. None of the D2's I put photos up of have the stiff spring option. What you can do also depends on whether you have things like ACE and SLS, etc. The masses will continue to recommend that you jack up your car as high as you can with stiff springs. Just think about what you want to do first and make up your own mind. |

Ian, I can't speak for "the masses", but there's more than one way to skin a cat. You can build a DII well, and tailor it to your needs - which may include longer/taller springs. They don't have to be stiff. Mine are approx 4" and two-stage... very flexy and not at all stiff. For lifts of 3" on a DII, few upgrades need to be done. Stock trailing & radius arms work fine, and are far stouter than stock DI links. Watts links should not bind with 10" shocks. Front shaft needs to be replaced anyway so it's not really a "mod". Rear roto should hold up to 3" lift, though it helps to carry a spare (more for impact damage than angle damage).
If rock-crawling, the add'l clearance helps quite a bit. At 3" you sacrifice little in terms of stability.
