Hmm, I'd considering finding some alternative so you dont have to 'limit' it ... Charge less for registration and more $$ for the banquet.. I for one, along with probably the 10 trucks I'm bringing, will most likely not be attending the banquet... but if you charge $X amount of money, and include in that training sessions, gift bags, etc.. you'll attract a larger crowd to Moab..
Bottom line, what would the $100 include? Is that only really inclusive of trail guides and a banquet dinner? If that's the case, what's to prevent me from not paying, doing Moab trails on my own and skipping the dinner?
Also, didn't LRNA host the dinner last year? Is it possible to get them to donate again this year?

Unless you want to eat dinner in the dirt of the arena, there is no other place in Moab that can hold the number of people we are having, let alone at a cheaper price. That also still doesn't address trail guides. We are limited by the BLM to have no more than 12 vehicles per trail. Training is free, cocktail party is free, food at vendor Day is free, banquet is free, shirts for all participants are free, fees for BLM and State land trust are paid by us during guided trail runs. LRNA did put up money for the banquet, but there are a lot of other fees that need to be paid for as well, like the arena, insurance...
Plus there is the raffle after the banquet, though you need to buy tickets for it.
You could just come out on your own, but you couldn't participate in any of the other activities, and couldn't run the trails that we are running with one of our groups.

FYI, it looks like someone may have really dropped the ball. No one called the Moab Valley Inn, and with exchange rates the way they are, it is booked up with foreigners. We were also having the banquet in a big room there, which may or may not still happen, so we will have to look at our options. If you were getting a hotel room, better get it where ever you can ASAP. Just letting you know in case it causes you to change plans.
Not my fault, but I will apologize on behalf of the club.

I take my previous post back. Pete called last year to reserve it, so the MVI dropped the ball. We are working on finding other rooms elsewhere.

Looks like the Prez met with success. We now have 93 rooms blocked off at the Super 8 and the Days Inn. Both are on the north end of town. Super 8 is new.

Very nice! Are the two places close to each other?
By the way, I hope it didn't seem like I was against paying a fee above, just curious as to where the money goes to past the banquet dinner.. and the following list you mentioned;
Quote:
Training is free, cocktail party is free, food at vendor Day is free, banquet is free, shirts for all participants are free, fees for BLM and State land trust are paid by us during guided trail runs.
Satisfies my question!
