Since you're currently in Washington, here's a data point for you. My Wife is a native Washingtonian and all her family still lives in and around Redmond. She often says she'd never move back there from Colorado! We love it here. The only downside is the recent droughts, but as we say here, if you don't like the weather, wait 15 minutes! I don't mind the altitude at all (in fact, I love it). We live at 7,500 ft and our cabin is at 11,100 ft.

I do have a question for everyone though... we've been checking out homes in the CO Springs area... what cities/towns does everyone like? We're looking for a minimum of 40 acres.
I would love a longer list then what I have now... Thank you!!!

The quality of life in Colorado can't be beat. Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy in VA. But there's no beating Colorado. As for LR clubs, you've got a very active club in the Solihull Society, with organized trail rides every weekend. (ok, I use the word "organized" loosely ). You've got Pike's Peak Rovers down in the Springs. You're within a few hours drive of more trails than you could ever run in one season. Plus you're within driving distance of Moab. As for camping/hiking, etc... you're in paradise. Very little rain, few bugs, amazing scenery, the list goes on & on. You'll love it!It's also a great state to raise a family. As far as Denver of the Springs go - the crime rate is FAR lower than east coast cities of the same size. The real estate bubble has already burst, for the most part, so you'll be moving in at a good time to buy a house. And there are still areas that are very affordable. Good luck. I'm sure you'll love Colorado ![]() |
