Turns out my park switch isn't always engaging which leaves the key stuck in the igition. I found the mechanism that prevents you from removing the key. You can manually push it out of the way once you take the steering wheel cover off. No tools are required. Its the object in the very center of the pic.
![]() in the normal mode, ![]() in stuck key mode. I was getting so irritated, I was about to take a pipe wrench to the key and force it =) But under the steering wheel cover, under another cover I found a solenoid, and discovered my problem. Hmm, maybe thats why they call it the discovery! |

Thanks good info.
It makes me chuckle because a few weeks ago my wife took my DII to work cuz I wanted the convertible for the day. She calls me all upset when she gets to work that she cant get the key out of the ignition. I tell her the standard, move the steering wheel, push the key in while turning...yada yada. Then it occurs to me...."uhhhh honey, do you have it in PARK?" Problem solved. Yes she's blonde but way smarter than this story portrays. Duc |
