[Off Road Driving] Bulldust

Bulldust is a common feature in Australian outback and can be difficult and dangerous to drive on. It's an extremely fine dust (not unlike talcum powder) that covers quite large, and often deep holes making the road ahead look flat. When a vehicle runs over it, it begins to sink, however, if you are driving too fast and hit these hidden holes, loss of vehicle control or tyre blow outs or both can occur and a vehicle rollover is very possible.

When driving over bull dust:-

Lower your tire pressure in the range of 16-24 psi.

Reasonable speed and momentum. Select high range 3rd. Engage Diff Lock and Lockers (if fitted). 3rd high is ideal as it allows both power, traction and vehicle control.
