Hey guys and gals,
I'm a long time Rover lover and I'm finally getting ready to pull the trigger on a 02 Disco w/ @ 60K and the full Safari package. There are actually 2 that I'm debating on...
To me, there is just nothing better looking on the road than a Disco fully tricked out w/ brush guard, lights, roof rack, etc. It's gotta be rugged.
I need some advice, so I'll be asking a few questions in the other threads.
BUT, if you have advice for a newbie on what to look for or look out for when used Disco shopping, please feel free to email me or shoot me a PM.
Thanks and I look forward to posting pics of the Rover next week! It might be the one in my avatar...

Welcome aboard. And welcome to the insanity of Rover ownership. Make sure to have complete maintenance records, proof of recall work, and any warranty issues have been serviced. After that, I'd recommend to buy in the following three arenas; 1) Newest year you can afford. 2) Least amount of mileage possible. 3) Least amount of previous owners possible.

Good luck. Good to have you.

If you don't get an 04 disco II make sure you climb underneath and make sure it has a CDL nipple so you can install the linkage. Since it sounds like you plan to offroad her you'll want CDL.

Unless of course your expedition outfitting for mall crawler status points.

Black one in avatar previously was sold last night from under me...
Guess I'm going w/ this one.

1 owner, 02, all records from dealer, lady owned and driven, etc.

No, mall status is for my wife, I'm wanting to take it through the local river...

shit, if you get that i'll be happy to trade rims with you lol.

I actually went and looked at another used 04 base model today here in auburn, way pricey, but in really good condition. dont just rush into a buy, keep your eyes peeled. but that 02 does look badass.

Thanks. It is badass. The price is more than right and the guy just wants to get rid of it. His wife drove it and she moved on to a Rover Sport Supercharged. Talk about a difference.
The rims and hood give it a tuff look. I'm excited and plan to get it this week.

Dude; WTF? Don't you know what you have? Look on the rear door and under the hood for Land Rover Special Vehicles Badges!!!

That's a Kalahari Edition, just like mine. 350 made total. All to North American market. 150 in Chawton White. 150 in Borrego Yellow. And 50 in Bonatti (Tombraider) grey.

Do not trade those wheels. It took me almost three years to find a second spare for the roofrack. They made just enough for production and for the dealers to rape you on the leftovers. Stolen if you really like them, they're type 4 alloys, powdercoated in anthracite grey.

SWEET! Yeah, the badge is there! As are all 5 wheels.

Can you tell me where I can learn more about this model?

It's easy to tell that's a real Kalahari by the picture. Anyone can put on a hood blackout, the LRNA brushbar, and the lights. Also the badge can be bought from RoversNorth. But that one has the SafariGard rocksliders, and I don't even think you can find those anymore. Almost impossible to source them.
