Hey, Andrew here, I've just bought my 2nd Landy and thought it was time I met some others who were equally nutty.
First vehicle is a 1971 (nearly twice my age) Series IIA 109" Safari
Picasa Web Albums - Tomo - Landie 110 Currently sitting rusting in the driveway waiting for me to finish uni for the year and get welding. Has an Isuzu 3.3d from an old NPR truck and Nissan Patrol 5 spd, which form both blessing and curse...shiploads of torque, great economy, but a b***h to work on. Happy to hear from anyone willing to talk about the pros and cons of welding the front diff when freewheeling hubs are fitted (grip vs cornering).
Second is a 1999 Freelander 1.8 manual 3 door....a girls' car some would say but as a runaround for uni thats also a bit fun its hard to beat...especially when the one I picked up came with 110,000km and a new engine at 100,000km that cost more than I paid for the complete vehicle. Reason I joined Land Rovers Only was to ask a member about fixing a problem with the rear window. Again, would appreciate any advice: its not like the other well documented rear window problems, and cannot be fixed by resetting the CCU. My window, when I put a new fuse in, would wind down fine, but when wound up would get to the top, beep, and wind back down again. Only way to keep up is to remove fuse when it gets to the top of this cycle, and then its permanently open enough to open the back door, which means I get fumes inside when the front windows are shut.
The other members of my stable are a 1977 Triumph 2500TC...mint but have removed engine and trans due to them being stuffed...now looking for new engine and manual or Rover V8. And a 1973 Daimler Soverign 4.2, which I bought for NZ$300 as a demo derby car. Very rusty and the exhaust is nonexistent past the manifold...which makes it all the better for listening to those 245 horses from the big six.
Cheers
