Default Heading off road (soon, I hope)

Hi All,

Name's Craig. I live in a south eastern suburb of Melbourne, Australia.

20 years ago I was an avid off roader. Not extreme, but regular. Had an '82 Suzuki Sierra for a few years, then an '80 Toyota Hilux. Then I got married and had kids. Priorities had to change. No regrets, I'd had my fill of side slope adrenaline rushes. I'd also had my fill of re-building engines, diffs, gearboxes and so on.

I've had a 96 Discovery 3.9 dual fuel V8i for a few years now. While it looked nice (clean and straight) and I loved the idea of finally owning a Landrover, I soon found that I'd bought a poorly maintained car that could almost be classed a lemon. It was a rushed purchase. Due to it being unreliable, I have never taken it off road (very hard to resist). I have a personal reputation to uphold of never having broken down on a trip, unless a rollover in my Suzuki counts as a breakdown.

I've managed to sort out most of the Disco's serious problems (many $$$ later) and my son is now learning to drive and he's keen to go off roading, so I need to properly fix the last few bugs before he gets his license next year.

Be posting soon,
Craig

Good to have an aussie around. Welcome to the insanity. Sorry to hear you've had so many problems with your disco. With proper, and regular maintenance, they're a very good vehicle. If you drove home from your rollover, then it's not considered a breakdown, lol.
