Default Hope to be a LR3 owner soon!

Hello all, Im Bernard from Washington DC. As the title states I plan on becoming an Lr3 owner very soon, it seems finding one a year or two old with the option I need seems to be damn near impossible. Anyways, the LR3 will be replacing my 2004 Grand Cherokee WJ (not the overland package) but outfitted with all the usuals, navi, skid plates, tow package etc etc. After being disappointed yet again by the lack of the Quadra drive system of it is time to get a replacement.

After hours of research I found out that I personally need the HD package which includes the locking rear diff for those occasion's that I do venture offroad (which is quite often, roughly twice a month). In my searches just about every 2007/8 Lr3 has the cold package or even the HSE package but NONE (none that I have seen) mention the HD package. Why is that?

Better yet how can I verify that one is equipped with the HD package? In Jeep Wranglers or Toyota FJ's there is a switch to activate this, does the LR3's come with something similar that I can look for?

The replacement have to Tow on occasion, navigate trails, seat 7 while looking stunning on pavement..

This photo was taken to show exactly why I have enjoyed solid front axles and the Goodyear Mtr's that have save my butt for many trips

This photo shows just how badly the rear squats with a moderate load of 4500 lbs, tow rating is 6200lbs or 6500lbs I believe. I was not riding on the bump stops (thankfully) but still that is to close for comfort, yes my headlights aim into space while towing lol. I do have a aftermarket brake controller so slowing down is not a problem and skyjacker shocks to help in the dampening arena..

I have hours of video being offroad and I am looking to do the same with the LR3. Thanks guys for the help..

No real way to tell if it has a rear locker unless you look at the rear diif and see a motor attached to the top of it. If you are buying it from an LR dealer, they should have that information in their system. I think the HSEs come with the rear locker, no HD package though.

BTW it's activated by the terrain response control knob in the center console if you select "rock crawl"

Thanks for the info, I have been watching the informative videos on lr's site it does not mention the locking diff but clearly shows how to activate rock crawl. Thanks again.
