Default I'm new!

Hey guys, my name is Charlie and I like Jeeps sorry... and Land Rovers!
My girlfriend has a Freelander and she loves offroading with me and she wants to build it up to follow my Cherokee on the trails (although it does surprisingly well stock). I joined this forum in hopes of getting some advise for aftermarket parts and such. I have already mounted some BFG All Terrains on some OEM 15" Land Rover steelys that we bought from the dealer, and I am going to buy her a lift kit this month. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone and getting advise!

Welcome Jeep dude. Don't modify that Freelander too much, I would hate to see her embarrass your Cherokee.

I am kidding of course....well kinda.

Thanks for posting the pics.

Honestly I was surprised how well that thing does off road! Its only disadvantage is its low ground clearance, which hopefully I will be fixing soon

Oh and of course it could never touch my Jeep Haha I'm just kidding. When my Jeep dies, which hopefully wont be soon, I'd like to look into an older Range Rover. I've seen a couple of them lifted with huge tires and they look awesome!

The older Rangies rock!! I love mine. You will lose some flex going to a frame but it's great! I have a 96 XJ also, Its nice but I really prefer the 92 RRC to it. I was glad to see the XJ and freelander in use!

I'd suggest you get rid of the stock muffler on the Freelander. It'll come unhooked and get bashed on all sorts of stuff. Get a small oval shaped muffler instead. Save you a bit of clearance and having to climb under and re-hook it... typically in the mud and wet.

Also, build a skidplate for the underside of the engine / transmission. The shifter linkage and oil pan are bad things to damage. A simple piece of diamond plate aluminum drilled and screwed to the inadequate stock mud guard under there will do the trick and give some piece of mind.

Yeah we've experienced both of those already haha. The muffler has fallen off a couple of times and once she went through a mud pit and lost park because of all the mud crammed up into the shifter linkeage haha

Welcome aboard and good luck keeping up to your girl, once her truck is modded. The DAP 2" lift is a real nice addition to the Hippo (freelander nickname). Check and see if you can still get the caster correction kit though. Otherwise, you'll eat up cv axles religiously. Enjoy the insanity of Roveer ownership.
