An Introduction

I never think anything I have to say is all that interesting but I guess this is required so this is it.

Though not new to British cars I am new to Land Rovers. I decided I needed a way to get around in the rain, snow and ice as well as a more convenient way to haul my two rescued greyhounds around, and why not do it in style and comfort.
So to this end I found a 1999.5 Range Rover 4.0S with 81,000. Everything seems to be working just fine and it appears to have been well maintained. This being said I am familiar with Joseph Lucas aka The Prince of Darkness and am preparing myself for the inevitable by buying shop manuals, downloading everything I can find and asking questions as well as poking around on the forums for problems to be looking out for. I am even seriously considering buying a Black Box Fault Mate SV since my nearest dealer is 187 miles away.
There are a few small things I am tending to like upgrading the factory radio head unit, replacing the headlight and trying to find a used set of OEM tail light brush guards. I’m also thinking a safari basket makes more sense that a roof rack as I’m not very outdoorsy and won’t be hauling any bicycles, kayaks or surf boards. But hey that’s just me.
Well there it is and here I am. I hope I can contribute with some worthwhile knowledge as I figure things out.
