Default Just Bought a 2004 Disco II

Hey guys, I've been doing a lot of research on this site over the last two months and I just want to say thanks for the great information and advice!

I recently pulled the trigger and purchased a super clean, 2004 Disco II with 28k miles on it for $17,000 on ebay from an owner in Miami, FL. After getting it shipped up here to Denver, CO I threw on some General Grabber AT2's and we're loving our new ride.

At this point I'm probably going to have Jeff Crover take a look at it and let us know how it's been maintained and if there are any pressing issues that need to be addressed with the remaining 6 months of the factory warranty.

To that point what advice can you guys give me regarding an extended warranty? I'm pretty sure we're going to do something but not sure what direction to take.

Looking forward to learning more about our new truck on this site and getting to know you all as well.

Any feedback is welcomed.

Welcome aboard. You'll love the truck, but am afraid those tires will be leaving you wanting sooner than later. Good to have you.

Default Tires?

Not sure I follow you, what would I be "wanting" sooner than later with those tires?

LOL! NEW tires. Good tires. Tires worth anything more than redneck garden planters. Etc...

Gotcha. What would you recommend? We're not going to be doing any extreme off roading but will get into the hills here in Colorado when we go skiing and camping in the summer.

Seemed like the Generals had lots of fans here for mixed driving and a good warranty.

In my experience, (managing two tire shops, including a wally TLE), General has a good warranty because they HAVE to. If you're going to offroad less than 20% of the time, and not in muddy or snowy areas, you'll probably do fine. Any loose dirt, snow/ice, or mud, you'll want a true A/T like BFG, YOKO, NITTO, Mickey Thompson, Interco, etc...

Understood. This time around I needed a nice compromise of performance and price since I just bought new summer performance tires for my Audi but depending upon how much we get into off roading I'll take a look at some of those others that you're recommending.

If you are going to leave the road, get a lift and go with if you keep the 18" rims the BFG AT TK for on and off or for real off road, I say The copper STT 275/65 R18 is the way to go.
