Default New to the Forum

So, I'm a New Yorker and I party like it is 1995. I currently own a 1995 Discovery (B-Blue/Lightstone; original owner), a 1995 County Classic (Alpine White/Sorrel; Dad was original owner), and a 1995 County LWB that I just bought in Houston, TX last weekend.

(I also own a 1979 Mercedes-Benz 450 SEL 6.9, so I'm really not a sane person)...

I'm here on the forums now because I have total sadness. The 1995 County Classic was in an "only in New York" accident 3 weeks ago (hit while I was stopped at a red light by an 82 year old in an out-of-control Toyota Camry). Rover "took the bullet" and has $10k worth of damage to the passenger side--all bumpers, doors, etc.--but no frame damage. She drove herself onto the flatbed!

But I don't have a place to put her (I already have the Disco sitting in storage because I can't drive everything every day), and I don't have 6 months to wait to get her back from the body shop. So I'm selling her for $1500 OBO. I'll post that thread in the appropriate section then come back here and link to it...

I'm putting out a lot of feelers as best I can to get someone to take the best darned "parts car" you could ever find...

Looking forward to exploring the site, otherwise!

Sounds like a good base for someone to make a coiler hybrid out of. Hmmm....

Welcome to the insanity.

So, my new truck (1995 LWB) is en route from Houston, TX to Paramus, NJ. I still don't have any takers :-( for my old truck (1995 SWB) which is still sitting, wounded, at the Land Rover dealership in Paramus.

I just don't want her to get junked by the insurance company, and I don't have anywhere to put her. I was hoping to get $1500 or so for her, but I'd take less if I knew she was going somewhere to get her parts used. (See my post above and in vehicles f/s).

Can anybody help? Is anybody interested (John C had written me through the forum but I never quite reached him...)? Other ideas? I'd really entertain any reasonable offer for the truck--whoever takes her would just have to move her.

Thanks for any suggestions anyone might have!

Is it really at the dealer??? Just kidding. I must be blind because I walked all the way around and did not see it. The dealer was packed and I had to park at Hooters.

I'd like to take a look at her but I can't make it to the dealer before 4pm. Let me see what day I can come see it.

I swear John, I just saw her yesterday. You have to go to the wayyy back. Look for the zebra-striped '93 RR, then the camoflage-painted disco, then my truck. She still has the NY plates on her. The Classics are just all so dwarfed by the new trucks

The old trucks are at the back (West) side of the dealership--not on the North side, between the LR and MB dealers (although on that north side, check out a seriously mangled Disco I).

The dealer is always packed, you always have to park at Hooters! They're at the dealer until 6 I think. But again, the truck is totally there. If you go, you could ask for Tim McDermott in Parts, Maribel Ramirez in Service, or Brian Scarnechia from the body shop. The truck is registered at the dealer under the name "JASON SONION" so they may not recognize my name necessarily (I'm Lindsay, different last name, etc.). But the truck is pretty famous...

Call me if you have any questions. I just want her to go to a good home! I could come and meet you at the dealership tomorrow if you think that would be better (I am just mired in work in NYC today) --Lindsay (646)287-7404.

I saw a green DI that they are parting out.... I don't know how I missed your Rover. I asked three salespeople there and they thought it might be at the body shop.

I'm in the city also, I might be able to stop by tomorrow. I'll give you a call. Thanks.

That's on the one on the North side of the building (sexy, huh?)

The salespeople there HATE me. I refuse to buy a new Rover. I refuse to buy anything made in the 21st Century.

Feel free to give me a call about the truck. No one at my office believes I actually do my job; they just think I deal with my cars all day. Good thing my firm works for auto companies. So I can be legitimately known as "the car chick"...

And to Funrover: I will post some "family pics" at some point...

John -- If you can't get a straight answer from anyone there about where the truck is, let me know and I can call one of my friends who's a service adviser there.. he should be able to locate it.

RMuller and others, just for follow up about where the truck is:

I just spoke with Doug Foss, Service Director at LR Paramus. The truck is exactly where it has been--at the NW exterior corner of the building, in an end spot parked next to a Camouflage-painted Disco I and next to the truck elevator to the roof. NY Plate is DEN-7121. You can't miss it--it is the only RR Classic on the lot besides the one with zebra stripes and snorkel...

Thanks everyone for showing interest!
