New to LRO - HEY GUYS! Penny Pinching DIY LR2 owner.
I bought a brand new 2008 LR2 right off the line 2 years ago. My decision was based on 4 wheel drive capability, fuel mileage, and towing capability. I am a contractor and this vehicle never fails to amaze me for a SUV that gets a real 24 HWY and 18 CTY, 16 Towing.
I haul my 22 foot Bayliner ski boat, my single axle trailer with up to 2 tons of material and I have been trying to get it stuck for 2 years, pretty regularly, and I haven't been able to yet.
All I can say after 2 years is WOW!
I am enjoying the forums on this site and my 2 yr. old LR2 is fantastic. It already has 65K miles on it (free service warranty expired) and I am happy to say I completed my first LR oil and air filter change yesterday on the 3.2 I6 all by myself. They really pack that thing in there. I had never messed with a canister-style oil filter before, but I really liked it once I got it apart and was able to get a closer look. 25.5 MM socket wrench! I put in 8 quarts of full synthetic and it should be good for another 8K miles or so. Savings from dealership...about $250.00. I have already changed out all my brake pads DIY at 50K (Dealership savings was about $750.00 because no after-market pads available yet, so I had to purchase from dealership. Pads alone cost a little over $300.00 at dealership) and changed the factory tires at 40K. I actually found some brand-new Hankook tires with the same specs as the Continentals online for about a third of the cost of what I found shopping around for replacements at tire dealers and about a sixth of the cost to have LR dealer do it. Been very happy with these!
