New member! And an alarm related Q...

Hey all,

I just joined the forum. I purchased a 96 SE7 about two weeks ago. The main reason I joined is bc I am having a weird alarm problem.

A couple days ago I started noticing some signs that the battery/altenator was going. I first replaced the battery, but then quickly found out that I needed to replace the altenator which I have done. However about this same time I started having weird alarm problems.

The alarm will go off at completely random times, usually once or twice an hour. However, it doesnt sound like the "normal" alarm...it is just very rapid "half" beeps. It doesnt matter if the doors were locked or unlocked. (Incidently, when I lock the drivers door the other doors are not locking along with it now). Once I put the key in the drivers door and turn it, the alarm will stop. Only when I turn to key to lock and unlock a bunch of times am I able to start the car, otherwise the "normal" alarm sounds when I try to start it. I have also noticed that after the alarm beeps and i am able to stop it, if I open the drivers door then close it, the beeping will start again everytime I close the door. Once started, there are no problems. Again, the battery and altenator have just been replaced and are fine.

Any suggestions?
