new member....have izuzo troopers & benz diesels
Hello, Stan here:
I have a long history of MD diesels, both 5 and 6cyl., and also two trooper diesels.....But, I just purchased a 1996 Rover with the pre-ford engine, which is a v-6 GM engine with head problems... I want to put in a diesel engine, either a 5 cyl MB engine (cast iron) or look for a isuzo engine. I have a 2.2 diesel engine, but I want to put that into a Trooper gas as a conversion [don't know how difficult that will be [purpose is that my 87 diesel gets only 24 mpy because at 65mph, I am running at 3400rpm and that is too low of a trans....I am hoping the gas gear ratio is better and better mileage when I convert.....But that is not the main reason why I joined this forum.. I need advise at to what engine to put into the gas 96 Rover [not a Rover Discovery] but a SD model 4 door model. I do not know that the SD stands for?
Any ideas? What about a 2.8 Isuzo diesel in place of the GM V-6?
