Default New member...and thanks

Hi -- Mark here from Juneau, AK. I have a 2000 Discovery II with 86k and thought I better finally introduce myself as I've been shamelessly poaching the forum for a few months now.

Many thanks to the forum for helping me diagnose the mass air flow sensor (MAF) as the fault for a p0305 code -- cleaning didn't work and I replaced the MAF; problem gone. This was something an "experienced" local shop couldn't figure out and it was making me nuts until I found this site and the good info.

My former cars include a couple Saabs (79 and 85 turbo) and a Jeep Cherokee (93) that I sold at 238k running like a top and purchased the Land Rover. Love the Disco, have always wanted one, and plan to keep for long term. But man, this is one quirky truck -- and I thought my Saabs were tricky. As there really isn't a good LR shop in town and I'm of the mindset "if someone else can do it so can I" -- and having been grossly overcharged by mechanics in the past -- I've found this forum to be tremendously helpful. I have new issues (p1300, 308, 303, and 305 on 1/12/2008 -- CarChip OBDII reader) and hope to contribute some of my learning experiences with the Disco II as well.

Greetings and thanks to all -- Mark

Welcome aboard. Welcome to vehicle ownership of a most peculiar kind. These trucks have more personality complications than most women. lol. Good luck.
