Default New to Rovers Only

I recently bought my series 2 and want to convert it into a trail animal. I am looking at H.D 3'' lifts and want to put it onto some 285s. The truck was well maintained but it sits at 100 thousand miles. I do not know to much about the Land Rovers abilitys and weak points yet, but have always wanted to get into one and build one. If i go to 285s will i need a new T.C? and axles?

first of all welcome aboard , and second .if i were you , i would try it like it is and go from there . these things are bad ass stock .mabey just an agressive set of tires to start . also if you have any questions , use the search engine first before asking .

Rovertym and OME (old man emu) are your best choices for the lift. the 285's will be at the limit some will tell you of your axles capabilities. I've been running 33's for about 6 months now with no problems yet. Your transfer case will be just fine with the tires.

3 in spacers for the lift? I wouldn't recommend that course of action as with worn springs and that thick of spacer your setting yourself up for disaster. This is what most people refer to as a bad idea.

Do a proper lift you'll be better off in the long run. Unless of course your talking about an old series truck and not a Disco series 2

The spacers have done me o.k so far. I have Toyo 285/ 18r, I got them for a good price and i want to spend money on bigger. I plan on getting the big blue springs for a 2 inch susp. lift but i have been waiting on a website. Safarigard.com. they are advertising a larger susp. lift to fit bigger tires with trimming of coarse. Possibly the rear doors. which maks me nervous. I have only owned this Disco 2 for two weeks so i still know nothing about its internal capabiltys. Does anyone know of a good susp. (coil no air conversion) lift? i really want 35s with good clearance no matter what.. New gears possible axles and as for my T.C i dont know its limits. i took the disco off road with some yotas and jeeps today and im proud to say my disco went anywhere the rigs on 33-35s went. i just need the clearance. info would be awesome.
