Noob w/already such a great experience with my disco
Hello everyone Obviously I am a new rover owner otherwise I wouldn’t be posting here. A bit about me: My acura died last wk so I had been shopping around for a vehicle I could shuttle clients around in. Although my bosses are fond of their supercharged strut edt rovers they're always complaining about having to take it to the shop. And strongly adviced against me purchasing any rover... probably cause they want me to show up to work on time. Mind you I’m not rich like those guys and only have $3,000 budget. It needed to be cheap and respectable looking. Now I have always loved the disco look for yrs and naturally gravitated towards purchasing a used one. I couldn’t find any rovers in WA in my price range but was able to find a couple in OR selling a 95 disco manual trans with a few probs. But supposedly it was in good running cond 145k. (i believe manual WITH leather is a rare opt for disco I - please correct me if i'm wrong). Well I researched the common disco probs in these forums to know what to look for. Well i met up with the seller and went through the hoops. Made a list of the probs. Everything else seemed okay and bought it. Wouldn't you know it, not even 1hr on the road and it starts to overheat. I pulled into a rest stop and investigated. Found a cracked coolant tank spraying everywhere. While i was waiting for AAA someguy in a L3 pulled up offering to help. Immediately i felt some comradery, who knows maybe he just felt sorry for me but we chatted abit till the tow came. My main concern now is find out if the heads warped and finding any other future snags. Some of you probably expected these pics as a new disco owner… enjoy!
