Default 1958 series wont start!

I own a beautiful 1958 series land rover which until recently worked fine. Then my son decided to move the car and left the keys in the "on position" in the ignition. That was 3 days ago and now my truck won't start. I changed the points, the condenser, and the rodder. Still the truck will not start. What I did notice is that the coil is really hot. Any info you guys got would be greatly appreciated.

Is the battery charged?

the coil may have burned up if the points were closed the whole time. It could also be the resistor (if you have one, not sure)

I agree with Sprock. Your coil is toast. And I would say that your boy should be educated by helping you replace it.
