Any thoughts? I'm going to look at one tomorrow. It's a former ambulance from what I understand. Not sure to be honest. I can't find much info on them so I'm curious if someone can offer anything.
Thanks |

Well they are a series vehicle.... so definately check out the chasis and bulkhead. The chasis is easier to repair than the bulkhead... Usually they had a 2,25 petrol engine, although I believe some of the ambulances were diesel, but do not quote me on that. As for pictures, look at this site... http://www.winwaed.com/landy/history/military.shtml there is one on there. The backs were set up to hold 4 stretchers usually.
Take the camera, take lots of pics, get under the truck with the camera and take pictures of all out riggers, and anything else you can find under there. Take your hammer under there to, give the frame some nice taps, and see how it sounds. The good thing about these trucks is that they are basically a big mechanix set. They were designed to be maintained in the feild with a minimum of tools and knowledge. Parts for the engines and chasis are redily available, however the ambulance converstion make anything behind the seats as far as body goes harder to source. There are sites dedicated to the military trucks and there is a lot of info on them. As well there are sections of many forums that are dedicated exclusively to them (try landroveraddict.com they have a great military section and are great guys and girls like here.) Let us know what you think of it, and don't forget to post a lot of pics...

Here is some good pics of a 1970 ambulance... nothing really changed between 66 and 70.... it was not till the 71 series III (1966 would be a series II) the one in this picture has the head lights on the wings, which really would not have been there until 1972.. but being military, it proably had a set of series III wings installed when the old wings were crunched....
