Default 1968 Series 2A 6 cyl pickup???

Hello. I just purchased a 1968??? ( The ownership states so) series 2A landrover. It has a six cylinder engine. It is not the five door model. Can anyone enlighten me about the numbers produced??? The rear cap does not look like any one I have seen before.

Thanks

Joe

The six cylinder was a North American option for us power hungry owners over here.

As for numbers, not sure. The engines are getting rare and parts can be a bit of a crap shoot (my brother finally took the 6 cyclinder out of his rover and put in a 2.5 deisel.)

Glad to see you finally got your series truck. I was starting to think that you had dissapeared.

Oh and if you want a road trip today (saturday the 10th) there is a pub day at the Waltzing Weasel at 2 pm in London. Our numbers are now up to 16 trucks... yay....

cheers.

You can use the VIN number to find out exactly what it was when it came off the production line. But The rear roof and sides look like aftermarket.
Looks like you will have your weekends filled for a couple of years though.

I agree, top deffinately not LR factory.
I always liked that engine, but they will cost alot to keep going. The internet will become your best friend, chasing down parts.
Better get after that rust of the bulkhead. MercedesRover (www.seriestrek.com)makes and adapter to convert that to a 300 TD MB engine. Nice fit in a 6 cyl truck.

Top looks like a mod to a common UK top mfg. Can't remember the name of the company.

!!!!!!!!!!!!FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello. I have a six cylinder with a brocken piston head. I bought my 109 in this condition, and thought it would be easier and cheaper to put in the 4 cylinder since i was missing the carburetor and distributor. Wata mistake, I wish Wouldn't have, and it definately didn't save me money.

I still have the 6 cylinder engine in my barn along with a replacement piston head and the appropriate bell housing. only things missing is starter, distributor, and carburetor.

I want it all gone, FREE!!!!!!!!!!!

please call

Plug your vin # into this and it will reveal all.
Clifton Scientific Text Services, the Netherlands

The bulkhead says 67 or later and the grill and sills say pre 69 bugeye so a 68 is probably not too far out. IIRC they stopped importing the 109 into the US in 67 after the NADA 6 cyl so your truck should have an interesting history.

...Ah just saw that you are in Canada.

Cheers
