!!!!!!!!!!!!FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello. I have a six cylinder with a brocken piston head. I bought my 109 in this condition, and thought it would be easier and cheaper to put in the 4 cylinder since i was missing the carburetor and distributor. Wata mistake, I wish Wouldn't have, and it definately didn't save me money. I still have the 6 cylinder engine in my barn along with a replacement piston head and the appropriate bell housing. only things missing is starter, distributor, and carburetor. I want it all gone, FREE!!!!!!!!!!! please call Christian 443-465-9285

hehehe - I suspect I'm going to offend the purists here but hey, it's my truck and my money. I'm building a NADA 6 cyl into something a bit more liveable here in the desert southwest US.
She came with a Chevy 292 (4.8L) which is the big brother to the 250. The engine is getting the fancy manifolds you see in the picture, a bump in compression, lump port head all to help the breathing and then finally a Chevy TBI for fueling. The internet dyno tells me I'll be good for about 200hp (Gross). This chevy is slightly longer than the Rover lump so she's getting a crossflow radiator moved up over the front cross member but all carefully containe in the original bodywork. As a result she's getting front disc brakes, dual circuit servo conversion and power steering. Suspension will be the usual parabolics. Oh, and aircon as life sucks in the summer in Phoenix in my 88. Should be a fun beastie when done. ![]() Incidently the picture shows a Scotty's adapter (Soon for sale with the 6 cyl gearbox) that is necessary to mount a chevy 6 or V8 to the rover gearbox. It all fits in very nicely really. Oh, the adapter can also be used to mount a 3.0L Mercruiser engine in a 4 pot which gives a useful amount over 100hp for those that want a bit more grunt. One thing that most people do not realise is that the 6 cyl bulkheads are weaker than the 4 pot ones. If you look at them closely you often find cracking at the welds for the stiffening gussets at the top of the tunnel. Pull your instrument panel and look at the back of the bulkhead and you'll see them. ![]() After all that I suppose I should really say something useful. I would not get too hung up on the 4 vs 6 pot thing as engines can always be swapped. Your time and money is far better spent in getting the truck with the best chassis and bulkhead and after that the straightest body. The mechnical stuff onthese trucks is easy compared to fixing the basic structure. Cheers Gregor |
