I just looked at a 73 series III 88 thats for sale. the body is in rough shape but, it had lots done to it (galv. frame, rebuilt motor and trans., all new brakes and lines and new electrical, new speary shifter from roversouth, and lots of other items) it seems to be dipping to the drivers side from the back about 2 inches. it comes with both a hard and soft top plus an additional rebuilt engine, transmission, 4 addl wheels/tires, and about 8 to 10 boxes of spare parts everything from guages to gas caps.
it runs, drives, shifts, electric works, steering seems very good, it stops with minor side to side movement. The true miles are unknown. I got it up to 45 mph on a back road, a real teeth rattler if you know what i mean. floors have been done. it has a mass state inspection sticker on it "PASSED". My question is, AM I CRAZY FOR NOT BUYING THIS YET FOR $6500.00? |

What's the bulkhead like.
Is it rusted through at the hinges and at the bottom? The rest sounds good and lots of spare part to boot. ![]()

That is far from a rough body. With the newer engine and rechassis I'd say the only thing to check is the bulkhead. Considereing it has been rechassised already the bulkhead is most likely OK as that is the easiest time to address any issues. With all those spares I'd say you found a good one at a fair price.

the current owner said the bulkhead was addressed when the galv. frame was done.
I think I'm going to go ahead and buy it. but, before I do, anyone willing to look at the pics of everything and give their opinion on it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

Looks solid to me as far as one can tell from pics. What Overdrive does it have?

Then it is a Fairey. Check the oil level weekly in it and only use it when cruising and will work well for you.

Crazy is buying a Series anything. Dumb is not buying that one. Just plain stupid is posting it up here without buying it yet. Dumber than dirt would be to post the sellers phone number |
