Canvas is pretty durable... I suppose I should have asked though- looking for a SOFT top in something other than canvas or ANY top?

Why not try a sail cloth or boat top custom shop?
I'm sure they can sew somthing up. Marine grade vinyl should wear almost as well as canvas. Other than the aesthetics why not canvas? Just curious, I have a canvas topped 88.

Badger would make something, I'm sure... Canvas is REALLY durable though.

Canvas is more water proof than the synthetic tops, I've found. Had a boat with a canvas top that was so old that it tore every time we grabbed it to stretch it back into shape and do up the snaps after having it down. Went all out and had a custom top made of the latest boat top material and couldn't beleave the leaks we had. Seemed to leak at the most inconveinent seams and at the edges too. The canvas would just swell up and seal the water out. The synthetic would guide the water to the seam that would leak and funnel it down the back of your neck.

Thanks. I had noticed that the new MoD defenders have a synthetic top and I thought perhaps somebody made the same top for a SIII 109". I suppose I will go ahead and get a new canvas top as I can't imagine dropping $1000 on a mohair top, and I really don't want a hardtop.
